A man was injured in a fire in the borough of Villeray—St-Michel—Parc-Extension on Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to a residential building on Castelnau St., near St-Dominique St., around 11:30 am

Residents were evacuated from the building, and “one man suffered minor injuries but did not require transportation to hospital,” said Montreal police spokesperson Véronique Comtois.

The fire was considered suspicious, so the file was transferred to the Montreal police’s investigative unit for criminal fires.

“Investigators will attempt to understand the circumstances of the fire and determine the exact causes,” Comtois said.
