Man Injured In Laval Shooting Arrested As Suspect In RDP Triple Killing

The fourth person arrested in connection with the triple homicide in Rivière-des-Prairies that shocked the city this summer now faces charges in two separate shootings that took place in less than a month.

Earlier this week, Montreal police arrested Stevenson Choute, 21, as a suspect in the Aug. 2 shooting that left three men dead and two others injured.

Investigators had no difficulty locating Montrealer, as he was already in custody following his arrest by Laval police in early September as a suspect in a separate shooting that left him and another man wounded.

According to Laval police, early in the morning of September 1, a man was shot while leaving a bar in the Chomedey district of Laval at the corner of Samson and Curé-Labelle Blvds. When police arrived, they found the injured victim in the parking lot outside the bar. The man was taken to hospital and survived the shooting.

A short time later, a second man showed up at a different hospital with gunshot wounds, and Laval police later realized that he was also injured in an exchange of gunfire outside the bar.

Choute is accused in the Laval court of firing a firearm without regard to human life, aggravated battery and possession of a loaded and prohibited weapon.

The other man injured in the shooting, 29-year-old Charles Turnier Lafleur, is charged with attempting to murder Choute and a number of related charges.

In October, three men, Clifford Domercant-Barosy, 26, Marlon Francisco Villa-Guzman, 25, and Jonas Castor, 23, were arrested as suspects in the Rivière-des-Prairies shooting and are charged with three counts of murder in first grade. and two counts of attempted murder.

On Monday, Montreal police obtained a warrant to arrest Choute as the fourth suspect in the Rivière-des-Prairies shooting. He is also charged with three counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. He made his first court appearance in the Montreal case on Thursday. His next court date is scheduled for February.
