Man charged with arson, theft, mischief after trash can set on fire: Winnipeg Police – Winnipeg | The Canadian News

Monday night, a 35-year-old man threw gasoline into a trash can and set it on fire, according to Winnipeg police.

Police say the man took a jerrycan of petrol from the back of a parked bakkie in King Street around 10:30 p.m.

He flushed the vehicle to death before going to a nearby business and dumping the fuel on the building as well as an adjacent trash can.

Officials say the man got back into the truck and broke into it before setting the trash on fire.

No information on why he broke into the truck was provided.

A nearby resident noticed the incident and contacted police. Together, the K9 unit and AIR1 were able to locate the suspect and arrest him.

Paramedics extinguished the fire, and the suspect was charged with arson, theft and mischief.
