Man Charged After Allegedly Pointing a Gun at Cochrane Pharmacy Staff on Christmas Eve – Calgary | The Canadian News

Police charged a 37-year-old man after he allegedly pointed a firearm at the staff of a Cochrane pharmacy on Christmas Eve.

Shortly after 5 p.m. RCMP responded to reports that a man was causing a disturbance at the Fireside pharmacy, threatening staff and pointing what was believed to be a firearm at employees, police said.

An attempt was made to arrest the man around 5:30 p.m., the Cochrane RCMP said in a press release. However, he did not leave his home in Fireside Bend, prompting calls for support to the RCMP Police Dog Service and the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team.

The man was “pointing additional replicas of firearms” and “threatening members with bladed weapons.”

At around 8:40 pm, the man was detained.

Cochrane resident Brett Morpak, 37, is charged with three counts of pointing a firearm, three counts of making threats to cause harm or death, one count of mischief in excess of $ 5,000 and one count of resist arrest.

The RCMP said Morpak was released after his court hearing and that he should not contact any of the victims of Friday’s incident, should not possess weapons and should appear before a parole officer.

The man is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, 2022.

  1. I think this action by the law enforcement agencies is excellent. House to vote on ditching common core standards is excellent, and I hope they will take more decisions like this soon. Many people appreciate this.
