Police say a witness saw the man with exposed genitalia in a park in the 7000 block of Lombard Road, near McKay Elementary School, on Monday. The witness recorded the incident and reported it to the school two days later.

The school then contacted the Richmond RCMP, who conducted proactive patrols of the area.

Just before 4 p.m. Thursday, while patrolling the school park, officers spotted the man in the video and arrested him.

The witness who videotaped the man exposing himself also reported seeing him in the park on a previous occasion talking to children.

“We recognize that this type of incident is of great concern to parents and the community at large, so being able to identify and arrest this man so quickly is a good thing,” Richmond RCMP Insp. Michael Cohee said in a statement.

Police believe the suspect’s indecent exposure in the park was an isolated incident, but urge anyone who witnessed it, or has information about it, to call him at 604-278-1212.
