Make-A-Wish Calendar in Saskatoon Celebrates 24 Wishes Granted in 2021 – Saskatoon | The Canadian News

The 2021 Wish Calendar campaign launched Wednesday in Saskatoon.

Every day from noon to December 24, a door will open on the Make-A-Wish calendar to reveal a wish granted last year.

“This is our third annual calendar with this campaign,” said Make-A-Wish Regional Manager Allyson Toye.

“Make-A-Wish Canada’s mission is to grant a wish to every eligible child with a life-threatening medical condition.”

Wish girl Rachel Glines helped with this year’s opening ceremony and told Global News about her favorite part of her wish: a shed.

“The television, the (Nintendo) switch, the desks and the mugs,” Rachel said, describing the contents of the shed.

Mother Lisa Glines has two daughters whose wishes were fulfilled and they spoke about the impact on their family.

“Having a wish for our two medical children has been really special for them. They were both able to choose something that was important to each of them, and that really helps with the morale that has really made a difference in their lives, “he said.

“Being able to have something special and important for children that is unique to them. And that really helps to brighten our spirits, especially around Christmas.

“It’s really difficult for a lot of these kids and a lot of their families when you have hospital stays on vacation or during vacations, tests and procedures.”

The schedule will be on display outside the Delta Bessborough alongside the outdoor track until January 4, 2022.

Currently, 227 children from across the province are waiting for their wish to come true.
