London Nationals Hoping to Exit COVID-19 Protocols Return Wednesday December 15 – London | The Canadian News

The London Nationals, in the midst of following Greater Ontario Hockey League and Middlesex-London Health Unit COViD-19 protocols, expect to be back in action next week.

Three games involving the Nationals were postponed “due to the current positive cases of COVID-19 within the organization of the London Nationals,” the GOJHL announced on December 8.

The league added that the move was being made, “out of great caution and with the health and safety of all GOJHL participants at the forefront.”

Nationals general manager Tony Mandarelli says the guidance came from the Middlesex-London Health Unit and GOJHL.

“We tested after last weekend and one player came out positive,” admits Mandarelli. “We talked to the health unit and the league and then we decided as a management group to take the weekend off, so we canceled those games. That gave us time to identify any contacts and make sure the room is sanitized and the players are healthy. “

The Nationals hope to play their scheduled home game against the Chatham Maroons on December 15.

“We will test the players again on Monday,” says Mandarelli. “There is a seven-day plan and protocol established by the league and as long as (the players) prove they are negative, we can consider playing again.”

Nationals players currently in quarantine do not show any adverse symptoms.

Games scheduled for December 8 against Komoka at Western Fair Sports Center, in St. Marys on December 10, and at LaSalle on December 12 will pick up at a later date.
