The Dragon’s Den-style program had six companies from Southwest Ontario make their presentations to a panel of judges that included investors, industry representatives and members of the Windsor-Essex Regional Alliance.
“Ettract is proud to have been selected as the winner of WEtech’s Scaling Accelerator for 2021,” said Patrick Thompson, Ettract’s Business Development Lead.
“We were surrounded by amazing companies in our cohort and we are delighted to be grouped together.
“A big thank you to the WEtech team. They are a phenomenal resource for any business, not just startups. They have been a great help in our initial success. “
The $ 20,000 award is the largest in the program’s five-year history, which is also sponsored by Book Credit Union, Invest WindsorEssex, and FedDev Ontario.

The focus of this year’s competition was to give participants the tools to envision what’s next for their businesses and prepare them for the challenges they may face in the future post-COVID.
“A program like ScaleUP creates a safe space to discuss failure, make mistakes and learn together,” said Lori Atkinson, Regional Manager (Windsor-Essex) at Book Credit Union.
“We know that being immersed in that kind of environment can lead to some pretty amazing results, with over 151 employees at ScaleUP Alumni companies in southwestern Ontario.”
Applications for the sixth cohort will open in the summer of 2022.
