Lleida taxi drivers protest with a slow march for the murder of a colleague


About 70 taxi drivers have staged this noon a Slow march with their vehicles through the city of lleida in tribute to the comrade killed yesterday Sunday morning while performing a service in the Bordeta neighborhood and to request clarification of the facts.

The entourage has left Blondel avenue in Lleida and has moved to Sifó street, where the taxi driver was found seriously injured by a knife. The victim died three hours later at the Arnau de Vilanova hospital.

Once at the scene, some of his colleagues have deposited bouquets at the point of the street where the badly injured taxi driver was found and have asked that justice be done and that the crime not go unpunished.

Likewise, the companions assure that the taxi driver was well known among the group, for which they confess to being in shock by what happened and ask for more protection and security for the union.

The murdered taxi driver, 43 years old, was of North African origin and had been in the capital of Segrià for more than two decades, where, on the night of the crime, he was working the night shift working for the owner of the taxi license he was driving.

For its part, the Mossos d’Esquadra have confirmed to Efe that the investigation is still open and that, for the time being, there are no detainees.
