After a 49-save performance on Saturday, Jake Allen is getting a well-deserved night off.

Sam Montembeault will start in goal for the Canadiens when they face the New Jersey Devils on Sunday at Prudential Center.

Puck drop just after 7pm (TSN2, RDS, TSN Radio 690, 98.5 FM).

Allen started Montreal’s previous five games following his return from injury. The Habs are embarking on a four-game road trip.

Justin Barron, acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in the Artturi Lehkonen trade, will make his debut in bleu-blanc-rouge.

Forwards Michael Pezzetta and Tyler Pitlick left Saturday’s game with upper-body injuries and didn’t make the trip to New Jersey. Jesse Ylönen was called up on an emergency basis.

Andrew Hammond is currently on IR and will not suit up against his former club. He was dealt to New Jersey at the trade deadline for Nate Schnarr.
