LG Electronics elects William Cho as new company director

LG Electronics (LG) announced that William Cho, its chief strategy officer, will also assume the responsibility of chief executive officer of the company as of December 1.

William Cho, a strategist at LG since 2019, was responsible for establishing LG’s Business Incubation Center and fostering new business opportunities in the form of internal companies as well as new partners during his six-year tenure as president of LG North America.

After joining Goldstar in 1987 and spending four years in LG’s overseas office in Germany, William Cho has a storied career that includes positions as President of LG Canada, Australia and the United States.

A graduate of Pusan ​​University, Cho received his MBA from Yonsei University in Seoul.

Other notable changes in the company also include the appointment of Kim Byoung-hoon as chief technology officer. He currently serves as director of the Future Technology Center. Kim will rise to Executive Vice President and simultaneously assume the roles of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the new Information and Communication Technology leadership role.

Jang Ik-hwan, a 31-year LG veteran, will rise from Senior Vice President to Executive Vice President and assume the lead position at Business Solutions Company after successfully growing the IT business portfolio to make LG one of the fastest growing brands In the business.

Senior vice president Eun Seok-hyun has been appointed to lead the Vehicle Component Solutions Company as its third and most recent president. Eun was previously responsible for growing the smart business division within the same company.

“Moving forward, the new leadership team will accelerate changes by focusing even more on customer value for growth, and each business unit will take greater responsibility. To this end, LG will transform its Customer Satisfaction Management Center into the new Customer Value Innovation Office. Their job will be to more effectively identify and incorporate customer feedback and pain points into product planning, development and sales processes, ”the company said.

In addition, to harness potential growth drivers and accelerate future innovations, the M&A department under the umbrella of the Chief Strategy Office will be raised to the divisional level for additional resources.

Similarly, to increase its focus on future trends and customer needs, LG’s Life Soft Research department will be promoted to the Life Soft Research Lab to increase its influence within the Design Management Center. And to accelerate its digital transformation process related to customer experience, LG will elevate AI’s Big Data department to division level under the watchful eye of the new Chief Data Officer.
