Inflation has hit those at the lowest end of the economic scale the hardest. Those who are employed at low-income jobs and retirees suffer the most as inflation rises. Add Trudeau’s brutal and punishing taxation, and it makes life more difficult and will lead to shattered broken lives, unstable households, and broken hopes and dreams for many Canadians who wish to succeed. Poverty rates are increasing as taxation rises for those struggling to make ends meet. The economy is headed towards a recession, depression or worse! Under a fiscally irresponsible Liberal government.

(And Trudeau just keeps raising the costs for Canadians—enabled by the NDP)

FIRST PARTY

A few months ago, I proposed ridings to the Ontario Liberal Party to run in as a potential candidate and the party’s response was catastrophic. My political stance is centre-left in a non-ideal world. Yet, I was shocked to read the email from one of the co-chairs of the party that indicated, ‘The riding has been declared women only, meaning the nomination commissioner will only accept nomination applications from candidates who identify as women.’ I understand decades of systematic racism and inequality against minorities, women and Indigenous people and so on, but for a political party that claims to be a guardian for the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, this goes against the spirit of democracy and all “equal values ” that the Liberal Party claims to be holding tight for Canadians. On top, the party has handpicked most of the candidates in many ridings in which “others” like myself did not have any voice. Ethically, the party has caused more damage to the core democratic values than any other party. I am not the first victim of this unfair political practice nor the last person to echo this concern passionately. I am just one voter who lost his confidence in a party that does not protect the values in the Charter anymore. Yet, I am casting my vote more carefully this time, and I am reminding myself to advocate for “equal society” in a vastly politicized environment of our time.

(As a political party, it is their right to decide who runs for them. That said, the sanctimony in the response to your bid to run is laughable)

SPREAD THE WEALTH—WITH YOUR MONEY

Re “Bank on some more help” (Steven Del Luca, April 25): I am a senior who has lived in Ontario my entire life. I have discovered that any “help” I am offered by Liberals always results in the higher cost of everything I have to purchase and a steep rise in my taxes, especially now with inflation the highest in 30 years caused by the feds’ horrific overspending habits . I am quite sure most Ontario voters have also noticed this alarming result of Liberal generosity. Thanks, but no thanks!

(It seems many voters don’t care much about debt and deficits)

SHARE THE BLAME

Why is it that the voters of this country are never held accountable for their actions? They’re the ones who chose the current federal government most Canadians don’t approve of. We all have a friend or relative who voted Liberal. Time to take it up with them.
