This week I will receive the third dose of the covid-19 vaccine. In the United Kingdom it is available for those over 50 and, taking advantage of the fact that I already fall into this category, I quickly requested an appointment. I am not convinced that it is essential: although it is true that antibodies go down over time, there is not strong enough data to say that an extra dose will reduce even more serious complications and mortality, which is the true power of vaccines. But maybe it will play a role in reduce symptomatic cases, and this would be important for the control of the wave that begins.
