Lennox and Addington OPP see increase in catalytic converter thefts – Kingston | The Canadian News

Lennox and Addington OPP report a sharp increase in theft of catalytic converters. This time, health care workers are caught in the crossfire.

OPP says nearly 10 thefts of the auto parts were reported from the parking lot at Lennox and Addington General Hospital. Another was allegedly stolen from a vehicle parked outside the John M. Parrott long-term care home across the street.

Police say the thieves do not appear to be specifically targeting health care workers.

Multiple thefts have also been reported over the past two weeks at businesses located in Bridge Street West, Richmond Park Drive, Center Street and Service Road in Napanee.

Catalytic converters are sought after for the precious metals they contain. Police say the investigation is continuing.
