Leafs F Nylander Placed On NHL COVID-19 Protocol | The Canadian News

Toronto forward William Nylander has entered the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol, putting all 13 Maple Leafs players out of the game due to novel coronavirus concerns.

Nylander joins a growing roster of Leafs in league protocol that includes captain John Tavares, defender Morgan Rielly and goalkeeper Jack Campbell.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe, two assistants and four other members of the organization are also on protocol.

The NHL closed for its annual Christmas vacation 48 hours earlier after the only game left on Tuesday night.

Four contests originally scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday 15th are among the 45 postponed from Dec. 13 due to concerns related to the pandemic.

The league is scheduled to resume play with 14 games on Monday, including Toronto in Columbus, although there may be more postponements with several clubs dealing with multiple COVID-19 cases.
