“During the night, the man’s wife woke up to find that he was not next to her in bed,” triggering a search in and out of the residence, said Sgt. Geneviève Major, spokeswoman for the Laval police department.

Police were summoned to the residence at 3 a.m. after the man was found. He was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Major said many questions needed to be answered about the incident, including why he left the residence and the cause of his death. A team of investigators and a forensic unit were assigned to examine the area Tuesday morning.

The Jardins de Renoir residence where the man lived, as well as his parent company, Cogir Résidences, did not immediately respond to an interview request from the Presse Canadienne.

The Cogir Residences website He notes that the Jardins de Renoir offers “24-hour security” and has surveillance cameras.
