Lance Stroll will start ninth on his 007 single-seater

Quebecer Lance Stroll finished 10th in the sprint race presented as part of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix on Saturday and will start ninth in Sunday’s race.

It is a penalty imposed on the winner Valtteri Bottas, of the Mercedes team, which allows Stroll (Aston Martin) to gain a position on the starting grid.

Bottas, who won ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull), was punished for changing the engine. Verstappen thus obtains the leading position.

In his specially-designed James Bond car for the Monza weekend, Stroll finished 38.6 seconds behind the winner, but nevertheless edged out his teammate Sebastian Vettel, who finished the race in 12th place and who will start. 11th. Fernando Alonso, from the Alpine Renault team, will separate the two 007 single-seaters, having finished just over a second behind Stroll.

The sprint event, marked by an accident for Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) from the start, was also shortened to 18 laps.
