According to the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, the regional health authority that oversees the hospital, all those infected receive a double vaccine.

“We are confirming a COVID-19 outbreak at Lakeshore General Hospital, where fewer than five patients and employees have tested positive,” the health board wrote in a statement released Saturday.

Due to confidentiality reasons, the board said it could not confirm in which section of the hospital the outbreak occurred, but noted that the unit was temporarily closed for new admissions as a result.

All patients and employees of the affected unit are being examined and the test results so far have been negative.

“The epidemiological investigation is ongoing and will allow us to determine the cause of the outbreak,” the health board wrote, adding that it was not the result of people not wearing personal protective equipment.
