Kingston BIA ‘C’est l’hiver’ Winter Program Begins – Kingston | The Canadian News

Special winter programming designed to enjoy while staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic begins Friday in Kingston.

The Downtown Kingston BIA has hosted a new month-long event this year called “C’est l’hiver,” which means “it’s winter” in French.

“After a couple of years of COVID-19 outages, we were looking for a way to communicate positivity and hope to the community,” said Marijo Cuerrier, executive director of BIA.

The new lineup will continue to include classics such as the Ice Rink at Springer Market Square, Febfest and Nighttime Santa Parade, which takes place on Saturday, November 20.

Other notable events like Santa’s Village, the addition of winter patios at select downtown restaurants, and a window decorating contest, will also be on the agenda for the next several weeks.

The new winter program begins on November 19 with what the BIA calls “Holiday Friday,” when downtown businesses will deliver special gifts from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Shoppers will also receive a special giveaway on Friday, December 10, promoting the second Festive Friday event.
