Last year, 43 discharges of firearms were recorded by the Laval police on its territory, according to data obtained by The newspapermore than double than two years earlier.

Of this number, 64% occurred in the Chomedey sector, where a quarter of Laval residents live.

Some residents of the neighborhood are therefore worried about the resurgence of incidents near their homes.

Evemarie Deschenes, who lives near the scene of today’s shooting, was not surprised by the news.

” My son [de 13 ans], I don’t leave him outside after 8 p.m. The reason I give him is exactly that,” she says.
