Justin Trudeau’s decline in popularity

After the end of an occupation of the city of Ottawa that lasted more than 3 weeks, the Liberal government is paying the price for its management of the situation.

This is what a recent survey by the firm Nanos, published on March 1, leads us to believe. Although Justin Trudeau is still a favorite for the role of Prime Minister, the numbers show a downward trend since the start of the “freedom convoy”.

While 31.4% of Canadians preferred the Liberal leader to other leaders three months ago, 29.9% still agree.

The second and third positions remain tight as 19.2% prefer the interim leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, Candice Bergen, and 17.1% would like an NDP government led by Jagmeet Singh.

“Although Justin Trudeau is the number one choice as prime minister, the second position remains uncertain,” said pollster Nik Nanos, adding that the rise in popularity of certain leaders could change the situation.

According to the survey, 22% of respondents still say they are uncertain.
