Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard: phrases and barbarities of a gruesome trial

Since last April 11, room 5-J of the Fairfax County District Court, in Virginia (USA), has become a set from which all the miseries of a couple that one day he loved each other until he started insulting each other, hitting each other… and worse things. The protagonists of the most mediatic trial of recent times, the actors Johnny Depp (58) and Amber Heard (36), interposed cross libel lawsuits: his to his ex-wife, for 50 million dollars, after she published an opinion column in ‘The Washington Post’ in 2018 in which she defined herself, without expressly citing Depp, as a “public figure who represents the domestic violence,” and hers in response, $100 million, when a former attorney for the actor called the accusations “an abuse hoax.”

Since then, several witnesses and the protagonists of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Aquaman’ have revealed all kinds of the most sordid and lurid private details about a toxic relationship where there appears to have been verbal and physical abuse.

The couple met while filming ‘The Rum Diary’ (2011) and then married in 2015. They split in May 2016, when Heard filed for a “domestic violence restraining order” against him, accusing him of abusing her. Depp denied the claims, and they settled her divorce out of court in August 2016.

But ‘War of the Roses’ between these two actors has once again returned to court in a brutal way, airing an authentic lapidary of violent, coarse and barbaric episodes. Here is a summary:

Several messages from Depp and Heard have been read during the trial. One of them was a exchange in October 2016 between Depp and his old friend and neighbor Isaac Baruch. Jack Sparrow wrote to him: “Let’s hope Amber’s rotting corpse is rotting in the trunk of a Honda Civic!”. Later, the actor apologized to the jury, explaining that he was “not proud” of the language he used.

“Let’s drown her before we burn her”

“Let’s drown her before we burn her! Then I’ll shit [sic] on her burned corpse to make sure she’s dead”. This was one of the messages that the actor sent in 2013 to his professional partner Paul Bettanyas presented at trial by Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn.

Bettany replied to Depp: “On second thought, I don’t think we should burn Amber. She’s lovely company and easy on the eyes, plus I’m not sure she’s a witch.”

Depp’s drug buddies

Depp has confirmed before the judge that has used drugs with his friends, such as actor Paul Bettany and musician Marilyn Manson before. Specifically about the latter, the actor from ‘Eduardo Scissorhands’ has said: “We have shared cocaine together maybe a couple of times”, in addition to joking: “Once I gave Marilyn Manson a pill to make him stop talking so much”.

A “monster” when put

Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, explained that her client “loved the side of Johnny that we see in the movies, charismatic, charming, generous, he’s the man she fell in love with, but unfortunately the monster appeared and this monster appeared when he drank or took drugs“. According to what he indicated, it was about alcohol cocktails, medicines, cocaine, ecstasy and hallucinogenic mushrooms. According to Bredehoft, Depp accumulated “an enormous anger” that transformed him into a “demon” and “it was during these episodes of anger that he attacked verbal , psychologically, physically and sexually to Heard.” on her face, said the lawyer, who plans to show the jury “shocking photos” of Heard with “bruises, split lips, torn hair.”

Without a piece of the middle finger

The actor’s lawyers have said that lost a part of the middle finger after Heard threw several glass bottles at him during a violent fight at the residence in Australia where the couple lived while he was filming ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. According to the doctor summoned to testify, in addition to crystals there were “blood all over the house”despite the fact that, at the time, Depp insisted that he lost his finger when he cut himself with a knife.

After searching the entire house, which was supposedly destroyed, an employee of the house located the limb and Depp underwent reconstruction surgery.

“Personality disorder”

What supposedly ended the marriage of both stars were some human feces on the bed sheets, specifically on Johnny’s side, which were covered up and later found by a maid the morning after the actress’s 30th birthday party. According to the actor, he was late for her celebration, enraging the actress, who would have punished him by leaving the cake hidden in her bed. Amber blamed one of hers two dogs of the Yorkshire terrier breed, but her ex assured that it is impossible that stools of that size belonged to a dog of two kilos.

Looking for drugs in her vagina

In her first statement on the stand, the actress recounted that the different drugs caused different personality changes in the actor: “Johnny on speed is very different from Johnny on opiates; Johnny on opiates is very different from Johnny on cocaine. He had to learn to pay attention to different versions of it. Because of the narcotics, he has assured, he forced her sexually. It was during a trip through the desert. They had an argument and he got violent. He was looking for some drugs that did not appear anywhere. “He took off my underwear and told me: ‘Let’s do a search in the cavity’. He said he was looking for his cocaine. (…) He put his fingers inside me”the actress recalled before the jury.

The can of Red Bull and the spit

A security guard for Depp, Travis McGivern, has testified that in 2015 he came between the actor and Heard in a fight that grew increasingly “louder and more violent”. After yelling obscenities at each other, Heard would have thrown a can of Red Bull at Depp and in addition to spitting on him. In one of the audios presented by Depp’s defense, she is heard saying: “I’m sorry I hit you but I didn’t punch you.” The actor, against her, has insisted these weeks that “he never” reached the point of hitting her (“nor have I hit any woman in my life,” he added). “The only person I have abused in my life is myself & rdquor ;, he also said this Monday.
