Jagmeet Singh vows to tackle tax loopholes and cheats

The leader of the NDP, Jagmeet Singh, insisted that corporations and billionaires avoid paying billions of dollars in tax revenues as he blames the Liberal leader’s inaction Justin trudeau.

During a campaign stop in Sudbury, Ont., Singh said one of his party’s top priorities was to raise taxes for the ultra-rich and close loopholes that have allowed businesses to avoid paying taxes in Canada.

He said that while Mr. Trudeau promised he would tackle these issues, he hasn’t done enough.

NDP promises to increase Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) funding by $ 100 million to strengthen law enforcement, despite Trudeau increasing CRA budget by hundreds of millions $ when he was prime minister.

Mr Singh is also proposing to require companies to prove that their transactions abroad are legitimate and that they are publicly accountable for their taxes.

Mr. Trudeau said during a campaign stop on the South Shore of Montreal that he had raised taxes for the rich, but there had to be a balance between taxes and economic growth.
