Italian police search Juventus offices to investigate their signings

The financial brigade of the Italian police searched the offices of the Juventus from Turin, within the framework of an investigation on signings Recent reports that could have assumed false amounts in the club’s balance sheets, reported judicial sources.

According to a statement published on Friday night by the Turin prosecutor’s office, the investigation focuses on the movements of players in the last three years and the way in which the financial results were presented between 2019 and 2021.

Juventus is suspected of having offered false information to investigators, and of having made invoices for non-existent transactions, the prosecutor’s office added.

According to the Italian media, six leaders of the Turin club are in the spotlight. In a statement made public at night, Juventus confirmed that among those investigated are the president Andrea Agnelli, the vice president and former star Pavel Nedvedas well as the former sports director Fabio Paratici, who now works at Tottenham.

The Italian national press agency, ANSA, said this Saturday that the researchers are especially interested in the arrival of the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 for 100 million euros (113 million dollars) and its departure, destination Manchester United in August, for 15 million euros (17 million dollars) plus 8 (9 million dollars) depending on its performance.

Last month the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) launched its own investigation into a series of controversial signings, many of them involving Juventus.

Some presume an artificial increase in the value of the players, for accounting reasons, or exchanges of players to balance the accounts.
