IP from Mexico proposes that an inter-municipal agenda be generated for the AIFA

Due to the fact that the Mexican municipalities bordering the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) will generate important demands in terms of urban, social and economic development, it is necessary to create an inter-municipal agenda to establish strategies for growth and attention to these new needs, stated the Council of Chambers and Business Associations of the State of Mexico (concaem).

The president of Concaem, Gilberto Sauza Martínez, announced that as a private sector they developed a proposal to analyze and address this agenda as a priority to avoid problems that arise in the medium term.

He explained that the municipalities of the State of Mexico bordering the AIFA are close to presenting a greater demographic growth, which will mean a substantial increase in the demand for housing, services, transportation and mainly security.

Given this possible growth of the urban sprawl, he said, the planning of the municipalities must be addressed.

“It is essential that, immediately, these inter-municipal tables be generated in which possible problems can be raised and how they can be faced from this moment on,” he deepened.

Sauza Martínez recalled that there are previous experiences, in which the unplanned growth of cities and industrial complexes brings with them problems that are difficult to solve and extremely costly.

“Planning is much less expensive than solving problems and we believe that this is an undeniable opportunity to generate development and wealth for the population that is settled in the vicinity of the new airport, but for that decisions must be made at this time”, detailed.

The president of the businessmen in the State of Mexico indicated that a development plan will also help to finalize the arrival of investments in this region; “It is not only about generating wealth, but also well-being for the people and particularly for young people from Mexico City and from the central region of the country.”

The president of Concaem maintained that the actions recently undertaken in the State of Mexico, such as the creation of a Metropolitan Calendar In terms of security, it is a clear example that comprehensive public policies can be applied and achieve positive effects.

“In this way, specific programs could be developed in terms of mobility, demographic concentrations, public safety issues, urban development, provision of services and communication networks,” added the Mexican businessman.
