Infonavit reports an increase in the amount of loans in Quintana Roo

Cancun, QR. During a working visit by the state, the director general of the Institute of the National Fund for Workers’ Housing (Infonavit), Carlos Martínez Velázquez, assured that far from reducing the number of housing loans in the country, as they have indicated by the National Chamber of the Housing Development and Promotion Industry (Canadevi), these have increased.

Infonavit’s new policy has even allowed the incorporation of 1 million workers who previously did not have access to financing for their housing, explained Martín Velázquez.

The federal official assured that “the mentality of housing developers continues to be anchored in speculation and usury that were allowed under the schemes of the past, but under the new federal administration, housing is seen as a right of workers and in that sense tonic is now working on Infonavit ”.

He suggested that “make use of the expropriations on the territorial reserves currently held by development companies in Quintana Roo, to make way for the new policy that privileges the worker to acquire land and build a house to their liking, without having to make use of the offer of real estate for large housing units ”.

“If these lands are not developed and they want to use them to speculate, a policy of expropriations must be implemented with what the law currently allows and we should not be afraid. It is not that there is already a specific approach to carry it out, but what I am proposing is that all legal tools be used to avoid speculation and make efficient use of land reserves in favor of the people ”, he asserted.

At the national level, it reported that between January and September 2021 the placement of loans has grown by 11.6% compared to the same period of 2020, which means that this year 258,748 financings have been placed, compared to 231,774 last year.

In Quintana Roo, the indicator shows a drop of 4.54% in the reference period, with a total of 8,599 loans, against 9,008 between January and September 2020, although it reports an increase of 2.85% in the total amount of loans granted, That is, while in 2020 Infonavit granted 4,296 million pesos in financing for workers, by 2021 that figure grew to 4,412 million pesos.

As part of his work tour through the state, the director of Infonavit delivered 17 certificates of the Solidarity Support program, through which discounts of 25 and up to 75% are provided in the monthly payments of the credit, complementary interests are waived and applied support on the current debt balance.

Since the beginning of the operation of this program, in May 2021, and until the cutoff of October 10 of this year, it was reported that 33,043 accredited nationals and 1,410 workers in the entity have benefited.

Canadevi

In September of last year, Ari Adler Brotman, president of local Canadevi announced that between 2019 and 2020 the industry lost 40% in terms of loan placement, and anticipated that the perspective they had then was that this trend would be would keep in 2021 and 2022.

“While in previous years Quintana Roo ended the year with nearly 19,000 homes placed, with loans from both housing institutes and commercial banks, in 2019 they closed with 15,000 loans and in 2020 there are only 13,000”, Adler Brotman commented for El Economista, who attributed this behavior to the new housing policy of the current federal government.
