During the first month of 2022, the industrial activity in Mexico registered a growth of 1.0% compared to the level presented the previous month, at the end of 2021. With this result, two consecutive months with a recovery are added, according to the historical record of the Inegi (National Institute of Statistics and Geography).

The Mexican industrial sector was one of the first to restart activities after the strictest confinements to contain the spread of Covid-19 at the beginning of 2021, despite this, its recovery process has been hit by inflation, problems in global supply chains and scarcity of raw materials.

Secondary activities in Mexico make up the second most important sector only after commerce and services and their participation in the National GDP It’s fundamental. Additionally, industries are one of the main sources of foreign exchange.

For its part, the industry manufacturing registered a modest advance of 0.3% compared to the previous month.

The generation, transmission and distribution industry Energywater and gas, as well as the industry of the building they failed to advance during this beginning of the year. Both sectors registered a fall of 0.2% in monthly comparison.

Although the general levels of industrial activity show a recovery during the last months, they still remain below pre-pandemic records. During 2022, the recovery process is expected to accelerate. Still external factors, such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, globalized inflation and trade tensions maintain uncertainty.
