Index Nuevo León foresees a 15% growth in exports

Monterrey, NL. The National Council of the Maquiladora and Export Manufacturing Industry (Index) local estimated that by the end of this year the sales of products and services abroad will have a growth of 15% compared to the previous year. In 2022 the main challenge will be to continue with the good performance of exports and employment.

“Exports are expected IMMEX (Manufacturing, Maquiladora and Export Services Industry) will conclude in 2021 with a growth of the order of 15% at an annual rate, due to the high demand for goods presented by the United States and due to the low comparative base (low level of exports that was had last year, due to the pandemic) ”, said Teresa Galindo, General Director of Index Nuevo Leon.

For this reason, it is expected that the employment of the companies of the Manufacturing Industry, Maquiladora and Export Services Program (IMMEX), grow 10 percent.

The exports of the state amounted to 37.800 million dollars in 2020, the main sectors in exports were: transportation equipment with 31.2% share, followed by electrical appliances with 20.3% and electrical generation equipment with 18.2%, according to Data New Lion.

On the other hand, exports by state, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), show that in the second quarter of 2021 Nuevo León reached 10,756.3 million dollars, which represented an advance of 56.58% with relation to the same period of 2020.

“By 2022 in economic matters the main challenge will be to continue with the good performance of exports and employment IMMEX given the growing demand from the United States, mainly due to the Infrastructure Plan Agreement approved by the Congress of that country last November ”.

Operations

The directive, ruled out for the end of this year and early 2022 a reduction, or even brake in the activities of the sector as a consequence of the impact of a re-outbreak of infections of Covid-19.

“We do not see risks, our export manufacturing companies, which we represent in our state, have world-class measures to contain the risks of contagion in their work areas,” he explained.

“We have already experienced two or three waves of outbreak from the pandemic caused Covid-19, and particularly this fourth wave we do not see that it can generate the risk of reducing or stopping operations, since the authorities worldwide indicate that it is not more serious than the previous ones ”, added Galindo.
