This provincial election campaign will shape the direction Ontario takes in the years ahead — from economic recovery to public health, from the minimum wage to the cost of living, from what we give to government to what we get back.
With the Star’s authoritative coverage of Queen’s Park and provincial affairs and the significant footprint of Torstar across Ontario, we are uniquely well positioned to cover this important election.
The Star reaches 43 per cent of eligible voters in Ontario, more than five million people.
Add in Torstar’s network of community papers and regional dailies and we reach 73 per cent of the province’s eligible voters, over 10 million people. We serve audiences in all of the province’s 124 ridings.
With that reach comes a responsibility we take seriously. Our goal is not only to report on who is winning and why, but also to provide readers with the information they need to make an informed decision at the polls.

The Signal is an election forecast tool that is the first of its kind in Canada. Developed by Clifton van der Linden and the political and data scientists at Vox Pop Labs, this polling aggregator will provide the clearest picture of who’s up and who’s down.
The Star’s political newsletter will be delivered twice weekly, with exclusive analysis from Queen’s Park bureau chief Robert Benzie and political columnist Susan Delacourt.
Political reporter Lex Harvey will fact-check each major-party leader for a week, keeping them honest and you informed.
The Promise Tracker will allow readers to see where the parties stand on the major issues.
We will publish deeply reported profiles of the battleground ridings that are likely to shape the outcome of the race, as well as an easily navigable map that provides basic information on every riding across the province.
Over the next four weeks, if our politics works at all like it’s supposed to, we will see a debate on the future of the province at a moment of great risk and great opportunity. The Star will work hard to engage and inform, to give you what you need to cast a ballot on June 2 with confidence.
