In Mexico there is a “union effervescence”: general secretary of the CROC

Isaiah Gonzalez Cuevasgeneral secretary of the Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Peasants (CROC), affirmed that in Mexico there is a “union effervescence” that translates into a new opportunity for union organizations, since they will be left without legitimacy, or in the “air”, more than 450,000 collective labor contracts that can well be taken up in the workers’ unions.

He stressed that in 2023 the deadline for carrying out the legitimation of contractsand with it, put an end to those who are considered protective, “those who harm workers, but now with the legitimation of collective bargaining agreements they are going to end and new leaderships are going to emerge because the union effervescence is already beginning and that is going to end the protection contracts,” he said.

According to data from Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration, after almost three years, 3,805 contracts have been legitimized; In addition, 2,268 trade union organizations have been registered for this purpose; and 7,935 events have been held in which more than 1.5 million workers have participated.
