In education, ideology first

In the fourth year of the six-year term, when the educational system does not recover from the serious damage caused by the closures due to the pandemic, the Government of the Republic is not going to stop to assess the damage, it prefers to push its ideological project.

During the ceremony to celebrate Teacher’s Day, the changes in the contents were announced, a change that the subjects disappear to “erase the neo-Porfirista and neoliberal contents even from the textbooks.”

From its presumed moral superiority and certain that History will prove it right, this Government does not mind sacrificing the future of one or two generations for the sake of an unreadable ideology closer to Bakunin than to Marx.

Who measures the anti-inflation program?

With his usual vigor, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has constructed a narrative about the anti-inflationary program announced just over a week ago, but they do not say how its progress will be measured.

Like any other ruler in the world, the tenant of the National Palace presents the different facets as a solution, he would be wrong not to create favorable expectations for the program agreed upon with a sector of the business community.

But if inflation lasts until next year, the currently encouraging and successful narrative will begin to wear thin and no narrative will be able to hide the daily and cruel reality of rising prices.

Abbot is right, increased migration

Although Texan Governor Gregg Abbott, like other Republicans, denounces the increase in migration of Mexicans who emigrate to the United States, the reality shows that their number is greater every week.

Most use the well-known routes and relationships with family and friends to cross the border and find employment in a society where, despite anti-immigrant sentiment, they are always welcome.

They capture the first-timers, but the neighborhood makes them try again and again until they manage to stay there. Thus, as in previous crises, this government will take advantage of that valve that for decades has facilitated social and political stability.

Swirling Notes

Some polls about what the population thinks about an electoral reform that only the elites discuss seem like a bad joke. Excessive optimism to believe that the majority of citizens already have a well-formed opinion on the subject… Like the sky over Baghdad when the US bombing against Saddam Hussein began, that is how the sky over the Republic lit up due to the crossfire between supporters of Claudia Sheinbaum and Marcelo Ebrard. Would the candidacy be for the last or the last one standing?… The budgetary austerity continues and the maintenance of a cultural jewel such as the National Museum of Anthropology is neglected, if something happens they will no longer be able to blame the neoliberals for his criminal carelessness… When will the head of the SHCP Rogelio Ramírez de la O tell the President that the change to the teacher pension system in the current circumstances creates unnecessary pressure on public finances?… Regarding the fight against crime organized, a phrase from George Orwell comes to mind: “The fastest way to end a war is to lose it”…
