House fire near downtown displacements six

Half a dozen people must find a new place to live following a house fire near Windsor’s core on Friday.

At around 10:30 am, Windsor Fire and Rescue Services crews responded to a house fire in the 700 block of Janette Avenue, near the corner of Elliott Street.

The fire was extinguished by noon and caused extensive damage. Later that afternoon, investigators announced they were unable to determine the fire’s cause.

Damages to the home are estimated at $200,000.
