Homicide team called to Maple Ridge after body found in burning truck – BC | The Canadian News

Homicide investigators were dispatched to Maple Ridge, BC, on Saturday after a body was discovered in a burning truck.

The RCMP and firefighters were called to the intersection of Park Lane and Vernon Trail around 1:30 am to receive reports of a black truck on fire.

When crews extinguished the flames, they found a person dead inside.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP Serious Crimes Unit attended initially, before calling the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Mounties said it was too early to say whether the death was related to the current Lower Mainland gang conflict.

Anyone with video of the area around 1:30 am on Saturday morning, or who has witnessed something unusual, should contact IHIT.

Investigators said the truck did not have a silencer and that it would have made a lot of noise as it passed through the area.
