Some talented Calgarians are getting into the spirit of the season in a big way this week.
They are coming together to help each other get through another Christmas during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clients of the art program of L’Arche Association, a charity that supports adults with developmental disabilities, are busy painting with a purpose.
“We are making some money for charity,” said artist McKayla Turbrett.

Being in the agency’s art studio is always a pleasant experience for Turbrett.
“It’s so amazing and relaxing,” Turbrett said. “I love making art.”
Turbrett and his fellow artists are creating works for a seasonal holiday sale, proceeds of which will go to support the art program at L’Arche.
The agency says the program is now more important than ever.
“The pandemic has certainly isolated many of our people. It has taken away a lot of the things they love, ”said Dallas Frank de L’Arche.
“Their art has really given them a means of self-expression and of sharing their gifts and having an impact on others. I think it’s giving them a real sense of confidence. “

Thirty-three artists from L’Arche are putting their work up for sale, with the goal of raising $ 10,000 to expand their studio.
“We hope to invest in a kiln so we can work on ceramics and pottery,” Frank said.
Art sale is December 15th.
“Art makes me happy, and I feel touched and joyful in my inner being,” said artist Tyler Raugust.
