The free event was the first in a partnership between St. Clair College and Windsor Family Homes and Community Partnerships, which helps families in need of food, shelter and other supports.

“The purpose of tonight is simply to put together a fun event to get the kids excited for the holidays and winter,” said Danielle Couture-Atogwe, program coordinator with Windsor Family Homes and Community Partnerships.

One of the goals of the association is to develop a literacy program that will likely operate out of the Windsor Family Homes building at 900 Howard Ave.

A Holiday Happening, aimed at building relationships with families, included games and activities for registered children ages 4 to 12.

Brochures were also available with information on holiday resources, events, and food support, and each child went home with a new book.

St. Clair College’s Early Childhood Education department is also sponsoring some families for Christmas and is running a food drive for the Windsor Family Homes and Community Partnerships food bank.
