Hilton opens first hotel inside Cancun Airport

Cancun, QR. After several years of being announced, the first hotel inside the Cancun International Airport was inaugurated on Tuesday, which will be operated under the Hilton Garden Inn brand.

The investment announced by Aeropuertos del Sureste is 70.5 million pesos, as stated in the project’s Environmental Impact Statement.

Hilton Garden Inn Cancun Airport also generated 540 direct jobs during its construction, in addition to another 100 permanent jobs during its operation, according to hotel chain managers.

With a strategic location within the airport, guests can choose to walk to the hotel upon arrival in Cancun or schedule a free shuttle service.

Executives of the chain then announced that in the course of 2022 the 350-room Conrad by Hilton and a 750-room Hilton Tulum would open, in addition to the completion of a 178-room Waldorf Astoria, which together will add another 600 million dollars in investment and 1,278 rooms, in addition to the hotel inaugurated this Tuesday.

Juan Corvinos, senior vice president of Development for the Caribbean and Latin America of Hilton, explained on that occasion that they are only the operators of these new lodging centers, since the investments are made by Mexican capitals that are betting on Mexico, with an important generation of jobs, since only 400 new jobs were opened at the Hilton Cancun, added to the more than 1,000 that will gradually open in Tulum.

In the case of the new Hilton Cancun All Inclusive, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and Hilton Tulum, the investment corresponds to the El-Mann Group.

He also referred that Hilton is a leading global hotel company with a portfolio of 18 world-class brands that comprise more than 6,700 properties with more than 1 million rooms in 122 countries, of which Mexico is its fifth most important place both by number rooms and their profitability, since 80 hotels operate throughout the country.
