Health pass: for the ninth week, opponents will demonstrate throughout France

A few days before the implementation of the vaccination obligation for hospital staff, from September 15, nearly two hundred demonstrations are planned, Saturday September 11 across France, against the health pass.

For this ninth Saturday of mobilization, the authorities are expecting renewed mobilization, with around 170,000 demonstrators throughout France, including 30,000 in Paris, a police source told Agence France-Presse. The Interior Ministry had counted 140,000 demonstrators Saturday, September 4, 160,000 the previous week and 175,000 seven days earlier.

In Paris, four processions are planned, two of which are considered “Sensitive”, we learned from a police source. One will leave at noon from the Esplanade Chaban-Delmas (in the 7e arrondissement), on the initiative of the yellow vest Jérôme Rodrigues, another will start from Place Wagram (17e arrondissement) at 1 p.m. to reach the Palais-Royal. Florian Philippot, leader of the Patriots and former number 2 of the National Front, announces a “Gigantic national procession” at 2 p.m. departing from Place du Paraguay, Porte Dauphine (16e arrondissement).

From September 15, all contracts for employees of hospitals and nursing homes may be suspended, if these employees have not received at least one dose.

Mandatory since July 21 in places accommodating more than fifty people, the health pass was extended on August 9 to access to hospitals except emergencies, to bars and restaurants and to large shopping centers by prefectural decision, then on August 30 to 1.8 million employees in contact with the public.

The government announced on Monday the end of this obligation for the vast majority of centers over 20,000 m2, even if exceptions remain, in the South-East in particular.

The symbolic threshold of 50 million first doses of vaccine, planned by the government for the end of August, then for the very beginning of September, has still not been reached, to some 500,000.

Now standing below 10,000, the number of Covid-19 contaminations continues to decline slowly, while hospitalizations related to the disease remain contained, according to figures from Public Health France published on Friday. In total, 9,966 cases of contamination were recorded in twenty-four hours, against more than 10,900 Thursday and more than 12,800 Wednesday. For comparison, there were more than 13,400 new cases on Friday, September 3.
