Peel Regional Police officers responded to a 911 call early Saturday morning and discovered the lifeless body of a man behind a Brampton shopping center.

Coroners spent the day walking between and around two large trash containers in an area of ​​the loading dock near Quarry Edge Dr., near Bovaird St. East and Main St.

The three officers opened the lids of the containers, peering inside as they walked around yellow identification cones and larger orange markers next to the containers.

Const. Donna Maurice said police received a 911 call at the scene around 4 a.m. and soon discovered the adult man in the vicinity of the garbage containers.

Homicide detectives are in charge of the investigation.

Residents of the area were concerned that something had happened in their neighborhood.

Linda, and her puppy Joey, were at the front door and on the porch watching officers in white forensic suits taking notes and measurements.

She was awakened by the police and flashing lights.

“At four o’clock it’s dark and you don’t want to open the door,” Linda said, as her dog watched the officers from her position on the porch.

“Something is going on there,” he said. “I didn’t know that someone had died there.”

Linda said she sometimes sees young people wandering around at night smoking marijuana.

Rohit Phillips, who lives in the nearby townhome complex, said he was awakened by bright flashing lights from police around the same time.

“I haven’t noticed anything strange in this neighborhood,” Phillips said. “We saw that the Forensic Unit and something new was wrong.”
