The Territorial Council renews the center accreditation agreement, which proposes coexistence centers more similar to homes, with more staff and more individual rooms
The Territorial Council of Social Services has approved this Tuesday the new nursing home model, that puts an end to the macro residences, proposes more homelike spaces, with coexistence groups of 15 people, more staff and more individual roomsand put an end to controversial restraints, whether physical, mechanical, chemical or pharmacological.
It’s about the second time that the Ministry of Social Rights proposes to the autonomous communities to renew the accreditation agreement of the centers and entities that provide care in the dependency system and that dates from 2008. The first time was at the end of May but a good group of autonomies They spoke out against it because they considered that the Government did not propose sufficient financing, a revolution led by the president of Castilla La-Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, and supported by several PP communities.
However, on this occasion the agreement has gone ahead in a tight vote and will therefore be mandatory. They have voted in favor of Extremadura, the Canary Islands, Navarra, Valencia, Asturias, La Rioja, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Aragón and Melilla. And against Galicia, Madrid, Andalusia, Murcia, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Castilla y León and Castilla La Mancha.
“Today I feel especially satisfied that we have achieved one of the most important agreements of this legislature. An agreement to improve the quality of residences and the entire Dependency Care System”, stated the Minister for Social Rights, Ione Belarra.
