Government of Quintana Roo starts with the remodeling of the Malecón de Chetumal

Cancun, QR. The state government has started the remodeling works of the Chetumal boardwalk, with an investment close to 139.1 million pesos.

The project includes the construction of a fish fin-type pedestrian walkway, an asphalt pavement running track, concrete sidewalks, over benches, access ramps, garrisons, treatment of the road, attention to deforestation, public lighting, restoration of sculptures and rainwater collectors.

Members of the College of Biologists will be advisers on environmental conservation and the members of the Social Comptroller’s Committee, headed by Ruty Carlos Buenfil Magaña, will ensure that the standards established for this work are met.

A new sculpture will be added to the boulevard, a monument dedicated to Chetumaleña women, informed the head of the Ministry of Public Works, William Conrado Alarcón.

The governor, Carlos Joaquín González, explained that the planning and reconstruction of the boulevard aims to generate tourism product, which attracts investment, with various attractions, both for tourists and families from Chetumal.

The third work that the governor supervised was the modernization and rehabilitation of the Bacalar coastal boulevard, in which 49 million 945,000 pesos are invested.

This is also a work demanded by the inhabitants, who wish to have a worthy coastal boardwalk for tourism and the local population, with which the conditions of mobility and tourist image are improved. The coast is an icon of the Bacalarean tradition, which has outdoor spaces where sports activities can be done, said the president.

The work covers 3,780 meters, with the resurfacing of both 5.50 meters wide and three centimeters thick vehicular traffic lanes, and the constructions of sidewalks of 1.50 to two meters of variable width, of stamped concrete.
