Government engineers on strike again

After suspending their strike last week, the approximately 1,800 engineers of the Quebec government have decided to resume it as of Wednesday.

Remember that the members of the Professional Association of Engineers of the Government of Quebec (APIGQ) have been off work since April 22. They had put an end to their strike on May 19 in order to “give a second wind to the negotiation”.

Remuneration remains the main point on which the negotiations stumble.

“We accepted the 37.5-hour week and Sonia Lebel’s expert classification, but for her part, she did not move on the salary catch-up. Even today, more than 50% of our members receive next to nothing. It’s impossible for it to pass to the engineers’ vote in such circumstances. You have to be pragmatic. It is to believe that she likes to see her engineers on strike, ”lamented Marc-André Martin, president of the APIGQ, by means of a press release.
