Google’s Pixel 5a (not launching in Canada) will be the company’s last device to launch with a charging block in the box. This means that the upcoming Canadian Pixel devices (we assume), the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, will not offer a built-in charger.
Google says that people already have a USB-C charging block. This comment is not out of the ordinary, as companies like Apple and Samsung have made similar arguments when they ditched their bundled chargers.
Additionally, disposing of packaged chargers creates less e-waste as there are fewer plastic parts in the world.
However, as The edge He points out, three major smartphone companies removing chargers from their box are likely to encourage other phone makers to start doing the same.
