Goodbye to NAIM

Aeroméxico confirmed last week to the military high command that on March 21 it will cover the Villahermosa-Santa Lucía itinerary, first thing in the morning. But the inaugural flight from the new Felipe Ángeles international airport will land at 10 am from Guadalajara. And two hours later, a Viva Aerobus Airbus 320 will take off for Monterrey.

A thousand people will witness next Monday the 21st the inauguration of the first mega-project of the Fourth Transformation, built in just 20 months.

A draft of the event program, which awaited authorization from the high command, establishes a stay of at least six hours for the attendees. The presidential delegation will arrive on Sunday. And on Monday, at 6 am, the security cabinet will meet at Military Base number 1. An hour later, the federal Executive will offer its usual press conference.

At 10 am, he will go up to the AIFA control tower, where he will observe the simultaneous landing of the Volaris flight and an Air Force plane. An hour later will be the solemn ceremony, with speeches by the Governor of the State of Mexico, the Head of Government of CDMX and the General Secretary of National Defense. Then, the cutting of the ribbon and a tour.

Goodbye to NAIM. The Norman Foster project that was being built in Texcoco was going to start operations in mid-June 2020 and, according to GACM files, in a first phase it would displace up to 70 million passengers each year. The cost was originally calculated at 168,880 million pesos, but at the end of 2018 that figure was updated to 285,000 million pesos.

The cancellation of this mega project required the expenditure of millions of pesos. And in just three years, military engineers managed to rehabilitate the Santa Lucía aerodrome, to turn it into a new air terminal that by the end of 2022 will be able to serve up to 20 million passengers.

The AIFA will enable 28 contact positions, 12 remote and 5 open platforms, as well as 13 cargo; a total of 45 positions for commercial aviation, plus the BFO that will serve executive air taxis.

The executive project indicates that the AIFA will be able to move 85 million passengers a year by 2050.

PENINSULAR. Summoned by a group of friends, the president of the Political Coordination Board of the Senate, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, spent the weekend in Yucatecan territory and out loud, before those closest to him, made an assessment of the political situation in the country, on the eve of the consultation on the Revocation of the Mandate. That is the first customs of 2024, he acknowledged. Some of the attendees stayed in the Yucatecan capital to attend a summit of social leaders. which also set its sights on the ever-closer presidential contest. Three months ago, at a resort owned by the Cosío family, another conclave of businessmen who had a mission also took place: stop the 4T.

LEGACY. Next April 1 will mark a decade since the death of former President Miguel de la Madrid Hurtado. Now from his citizen position, his son Enrique seeks to honor his legacy, but above all to build collective solutions to the country’s problems. Suggesting the use of the figure of Don Miguel for purposes other than commemorating him is not correct. If he talks about him, he does so as an express question to clarify people’s perceptions about the years at the head of the country.
