Good Samaritan steps in to foil robbery suspect in Pickering

Durham Regional Police arrested a man after a convenience store robbery in Pickering where a Good Samaritan stepped in.

On Tuesday at 6 pm, police were called to the Smart Food Fair convenience store on Pickering Parkway for a robbery.

The alleged robber had a knife and was demanding cash when a customer confronted the suspect.

As the suspect fled the store, the customer was able to grab the alleged robber’s bag.

Police arrested the suspect hiding in a residential property on Greta Circle.

The victim was not injured.

Alex Morgan, 26, of Pickering, is charged with robbery with a weapon, possess dangerous weapon to public peace and disguise with intent.

He was held for a bail hearing.
