Gentera foresees growth in its portfolio of 15% in 2021

Once the impact of the Covid-19 crisis has passed, Gentera, whose main asset is Compartamos Banco, expects to close 2021 with a 15% growth in its loan portfolio, since in the micro-entrepreneurs segment , which is where it is focused, there is a high demand for liquidity for working capital.

At the end of the third quarter of 2021, Gentera’s portfolio reached 40,416 million pesos, of which 22,747 million were from Compartamos Banco; 14,768 million from Compartamos Financiera de Peru and 2,900 million from ConCrédito.

“Our loan portfolio is growing and once again exceeds 40,000 million pesos. And not only is it important that growth resume after a contraction last year, but its past due portfolio is at a very healthy level, “said Patricio Díez, Compartamos’ CEO.

Last year, derived from the complicated situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the past due portfolio of this institution reached 7%, and at the end of the third quarter of 2021, it was 3 percent.

“Growing with quality is something we have focused on; it was the focus to take care of our clients in the most complicated moments, and today growth occurs with quality in the portfolio, a healthy portfolio and a very solid balance sheet ”, he said.

Greater demand is expected in the coming months

In this sense, the director of Compartamos Banco highlighted that the end of 2021 will be with a positive demand for credit, which is why they expect a 15 percent growth in the portfolio.

“We are well positioned to meet the credit needs of this sector not only in Mexico but also in Peru,” he pointed out and said that in recent months there has already been a significant demand for credit.
