Pierre Alain, 61, is accused of committing a sexual assault while performing his duties at CHSLD Lionel-Émond in Gatineau, local. said the police in a statement .
The investigation began in mid-November, police said. A complaint against an employee for touching himself followed.
Investigators had to enlist the cooperation of the resident’s legal guardians, as the person’s health did not allow them to file a complaint themselves, police said.
The investigation appears to have been initiated as part of a concerted intervention process to combat elder abuse.
Alain no longer works at the CHSLD, according to the Outaouais CISSS. It was “withdrawn” as soon as regional health officials learned of the allegations, the CISSS said.
