WHY WATCH?

It’s the last game of the season for the Senators

Neither the Senators or Flyers are going to the post-season so this will be the last game for both clubs. Ottawa has a 7-8-1 record in the second game of back-to-back games this season. This won’t be an easy way to finish because the Flyers had Thursday off while the Senators faced the Panthers at home. Ottawa has a 17-20-3 record on the road this season.

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE FLYERS

Philly is coming off a 4-0 road loss to the Winnipeg Jets Wednesday and it’s the seventh time the Flyers have been shutout this season. The club finished the season with an 11-25-5 record on the road. It’s the least road wins the club since the 1991-92 campaign. Right now, Philly would have the fourth-best odds of winning the draft lottery that will be held May 10.

It will be interesting to see what changes are made in Philly in the off-season. Coach Mike Yeo was installed in an interim role when Alain Vigneault was fired and it hasn’t really changed the club’s fortunes. The Flyers have been devastated by injuries this season and Philly appears to be a full rebuild. Hard to believe this team has the NHL’s worst power play.

According to Philadelphia writer Bill Meltzer, the Flyers are 0-40-1 in games in which they’ve trailed by two goals or more. They’re the only team that hasn’t been able to come back in that situation. Expect to see Martin Jones make the start for Philly with Carter Hart done for the year.
