Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, two figures of discontent against the sanitary measures enacted by the Trudeau government, were arrested Thursday evening by the police.

Mme Lich was thus charged with incitement to commit mischief. Mr. Barber, meanwhile, faces charges of instigating mischief, inciting to disobey a court order and inciting to obstruct police.

The two organizers of the movement will have to appear on Friday, while other arrests are still being made in the morning among the demonstrators, according to the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).

“There is a heavy police presence on Nicholas Street, protesters are asked to leave immediately. Some demonstrators surrender and are arrested. We urge protesters to remain peaceful and legal,” police wrote on Twitter.

The authorities had also recalled that the demonstrators expose themselves to “serious sanctions” if they do not immediately leave the downtown area.

Remember that due to the ongoing police operation downtown, the House of Commons will not sit on Friday.
