France Freezes Over $25 Billion of Russian Assets

France has so far immobilized 23.7 billion euros ($25.66 billion) of Russian assets on its territory as part of the sanctions decreed for the invasion of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy and Finance said on Tuesday.

This updated list includes 22.8 billion euros from Central Bank of Russia in French accounts, confirming a newspaper article Le Parisian. In addition, there are another 178 million euros of various bank assets, the ministry detailed.

France also seized four cargo ships and four yachts worth more than €125.2 million, six helicopters valued at €60 million and €7 million worth of works of art.

The French government blocked real estate with an acquisition value of 573.6 million euros.

Since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine at the end of February, Western countries have adopted numerous economic sanctions packages against the country and its political and economic elite.
