Former SQ officer charged with leaking information to suspects – Montreal | The Canadian News

The Sûreté du Québec has arrested a former retired investigator whom it accuses of having been a mole in its ranks, police announced Tuesday.

According to the SQ’s internal investigations department, the former police officer sent inside information to suspects who are the subject of a criminal investigation.

The allegations stem from a 2016 investigation into organized crime in the Outaouais region.

The 54-year-old former Gatineau officer faces multiple charges, including obstruction of justice and breach of trust, the SQ said Tuesday.

The former officer is scheduled to appear in Gatineau court on November 17.
